  Gunmen suspected to be bandits, on Saturday night, attacked the country home of a member of Katsina State House of Assembly representing Bakori Constituency, Dr. Ibrahim Kurami. The country house is located at the lawmaker’s village, Kurami, Bakori Local Government Area of the state. Residents noted that the gunmen stormed the house at 9 p.m , shortly after Muslims night prayers and shot at a member of the First Aid Group of Islam met at the main gate. The victim sustained injuries from the gunshots and was later rushed to a hospital for treatment. The gunmen thereafter abducted two of the lawmaker’s children and his wife,  The PUNCH was told. Residents said the whereabouts of the trio were still unknown as of Sunday when this report is filed.   Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has intervened in the ongoing industrial action by members of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, has learnt. The NARD declared the strike action on July 30 at its National Executive Council meeting with the theme ‘The Nigerian doctor, an endangered species: grappling with a pandemic, poor workplace infrastructure and security threats.’ Announcing the action would begin on August 2 after the meeting held in Umuahia, Abia State, the National President of NARD, Dr Okhuaihesuyi Uyilawa, had cited the failure of the Federal Government to implement the agreements it entered into with the union 113 days after it suspended the previous strike.   The multi-million naira Ogun State Model School, Ago-Iwoye, established by Senator Ibikunle Amosun-led government, has been abandoned. The model school, named after the late Professor Sanya Onabamiro, an indigene of Ago-Iwoye, was established alongside 25 others across the 26 state constituencies. The cost of each model school was put at N750 million by former Governor Amosun, while his Commissioner for Education, late John Odubela put the cost of each school when completed and fully equipped at N1.3 billion naira. However, since the completion of the school in Ago-Iwoye, it had been neglected and abandoned without being put to any use. The school has been taken over by reptiles and birds, while some residents of the area now use it as a spot for open defecation.
